Welcome to Legendary Forces! We’re a sister podcast to The 42cast. This is a show devoted to the love of Star Wars. Nathan, Juliette, Joe, Ashley, and Corrine review every piece of Star Wars media that they can find – letting you know how good it is and whether or not it’s worth someone picking it up today. Along the way they’ll discuss how our notions of Star Wars canon and continuity have evolved over time.
What media will you be covering?
We are going to do everything that we can. That includes the films, television shows, novels, comics, and radio plays. We are already discussion how we want to handle tabletop games and video games, so those may be a part of the show as well. We’re intending to go in chronological orders from 1976 (yes, 1976!) to today.
What’s the format of the show?
After a brief introduction we start each episode with a brief summary of what we read, watched, played, or listened to. Then, we’ll give our review, discussing the merit of the media. Finally, we give our final thoughts and let you know whether it’s worth your time to pick it up.
How long is the podcast?
The standard runtime will be an hour. Occasionally some episodes may require more, so we can go up to 90 minutes, but no episode will be longer than that.
How do I listen to the episodes?
Check this space later. There will be links on both the main page and here once we’ve published our first episode.
What is your background with Star Wars?
Nathan can’t remember a time when he hadn’t seen the original Star Wars. He would ask to watch it daily when he came home from school in Kindergarten until his mother stopped working the VCR for him. He read the Heir to the Empire series as soon as it came out, and has read many original novels and comics since. He has maintained a complicated relationship with the franchise since the prequels but has appreciated the sequel trilogy overall. He considers Legendary Forces to be his therapy for being such a continuity hound.
Juliette began watching Star Wars when she snuck watching Return of the Jedi on the TV as a young child. Since then she’s become an avid Star Wars viewer, reader, and cosplayer.
Corrine doesn’t remember a time when she hasn’t seen Star Wars either. Her earliest memories are of watching the Ewoks and Droids animated series. Her mother supported her habit by turning her on to the movies, and she’s been a lifelong fan ever since.
Ashley came to Star Wars during high school. She saw the movies in a random order, but she quickly became drawn into the universe. When Disney bought Lucasfilm she started getting involved in blogging and podcasting partially as a means to talk about her favorite series. She is also an ardent Rey cosplayer and to date has three distinct Rey costumes.
Joe doesn’t remember when he first watched Star Wars, but he does remember that he watched the original trilogy many times as a young child and enjoyed his Darth Maul lightsaber. He has never gotten into the expanded universe, so he’s looking forward to this podcast introducing him to more Star Wars media.
