Timestreams 10: Stop Thinking so Loud (The Sensorites)

April 22, 2021 by Dastari Leave a Comment

SensoritesIn this episode Nathan and Juliette talk about the Doctor Who serial, The Sensorites. Juliette opines on whether Susan’s weird is too weird or gives much needed development. Nathan discusses why visually oriented stories age more poorly than plot oriented ones. They both talk about whether the story has too many ideas and talk about how well the Sensorites work as a concept and how well they’re realized. Near the end they discuss how this story may have influenced Ghostbusters.

Timestreams 5: Blame the Beds (The Edge of Destruction)

October 24, 2020 by Dastari Leave a Comment

The Edge of DestructionIt’s an entire storyline inside the Ship as Nathan and Juliette come to The Edge of Destruction. They discuss the “haunted house” vibe of the story and how that’s an extreme departure from how the TARDIS has been depicted in the past two storylines. Juliette suspects the beds have put everyone one edge. Nathan wants to know if John Williams got some Star Wars inspiration from this serial. They also talk about Super Saiyan Susan, engineering problems, and the awesomeness of Barbara Wright.
