The 42cast Episode 219: Time After Time

December 16, 2024 by Dastari Leave a Comment

Legion Season 3Legion was one of two TV series that Fox produced while owning the X-Men license. The story followed David Haller, the son of Professor Charles Xavier; his struggles with mental health; and his development as one of the most powerful mutants on the planet. The series was told from the point of view of this unreliable narrator which sometimes lead to strange visuals and editing choices. In this episode the cast discusses the third and final season that focused on time travel and the consequences of various characters’ actions. Along the way they talk about the various characters, what they think about the use of time travel in this season, mental health and how its depicted in the series, and whether or not this is a satisfying ending for the series.

Our five-minute controversy asks if we have concerns over the closing of Marvel TV and the move of all future TV projects to Marvel Studios.

This week Anji and newcomer, Pat, join the cast.

The 42cast Episode 168: Jigsawed

December 14, 2022 by Dastari Leave a Comment

Punisher Season TwoThe Marvel Netflix series garnered a large amount of support in the brief time that they were available. With Charlie Cox returning as Daredevil it was only a matter of time before rumors spread of others of the Netflix “Defenders” being folded into the MCU. Jon Bernthal is at the center of many of those proving that there’s still an audience for his interpretation of The Punisher. In this episode we take a look at the second season of that series. We discuss the pacing and why it worked for some and didn’t for others. We talk about the new characters and how they effected Frank’s journey. We also get into the choices made to further season one’s story and whether we felt that worked. We finish up by asking whether we’d like to see future seasons of the series on Disney+.

In this week’s five-minute controversy we ask if Disney should make their historically notable but racially incentive material from the past available on Disney+.

This week Ryan, Mark, and Anji join the cast.

RocketeerIt’s been thirty years since The Rocketeer graced the silver screen. A superhero story done in a 40’s pulp hero style, the Rocketeer may have been ahead of it’s time. It made only moderate profits in the theater, but has retained a cult following. In this episode we talk about what we think about the Rocketeer and how its aged. We discuss the rocket punk style, the acting, plot, and themes of the story. We also discuss why the movie may not have done as well as expected. We also discuss what we’re hoping for from the Disney+ reboot.
