Indiana Jones has returned in a fifth installment of the titular franchise. In this episode we talk about the Dial of Destiny. We discuss revitalizing the franchise in the 21st century and how it compares to the prior attempt. We debate the Indiana Jones franchise’s potential for a continuation with other characters or a reboot. We also get into Nazi villains, use of historical set pieces, artefacts, and why Sallah is the bellwether for whether an Indiana Jones film will be good or not.
Due to time constraints there is no five-minute controversy this week.
This week Ryan, Nate, and Mark join the cast.
Show Notes:
Mark’s mental diagram of how Raiders of the Lost Ark influenced him.

We go through all the ins and outs of the season, from the awesomeness of Madame Hydra to new character, Simmons, and her ties to the corrupt S.H.I.E.L.D. organization. We also talk about why we should care about a schoolteacher and a law-abiding citizen with his daughter. It’s all that and more with this triumphant installment of The 42cast!
Ever wonder what’s been going on with all these novels and movies about teenagers living in apocalyptic scenarios? So do we. That’s why this week we decided to talk about what’s driving these apocalyptic teenage dreams. We talk about female protagonists, following the dollar, adaptation integrity, movie length, and so much more. Nathan asks the eternal question of whether Suzanne Collins is fibbing when she says that she hadn’t seen or read Battle Royale and Rachele makes sure that we all know her opinion of The Giver. We may have also come up for a new use for Pokemon Go – matchmaking.
