We all have them. They’re the series that got away. They’re the things that we think about with a wistful “what if..?” as we contemplate what would have happened if one of our favorite series had continued. In this episode we dive deep into the nostalgia well. We discuss the series that we loved that never made it past two seasons. We talk about why we liked them and why we felt like they deserved another shot.
This week’s five-minute controversy asks that in light of James Gunn saying that the DCU would only do one live-action series per year, if it is a good expenditure of their time to work on a Jimmy Olsen-centric series.
This week Annie; Page; Felicity; and newcomer, Assad, join the cast.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was the first of the Marvel TV series to tie in with the MCU and it was almost the last to air before the collapse of Marvel’s TV division. In this episode we look back at the final season of the series. Along the way we discuss whether the time-travel McGuffin and callbacks to previous episodes created a satisfying conclusion to the series. We’ll talk about the inclusion of Souza, how well he worked on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and whether we felt that this was a fitting move for his character. Along the way we’ll talk about missed opportunities, the Fitz reveal, and what we all thought about the coda.
This week we delve back into the MCU on Disney+ to talk about Ms. Marvel. Join our cast as we delve into the comic origins of these characters. We’ll talk about what works, what didn’t, and what we wish they included and didn’t. We’ll also discuss casting and performances and what we thought of the tone of the series. We’ll also debate how this works into the greater MCU, where we think it’s going, and how we think the final twist of this series will play into the advent of some new characters coming to the MCU. We’ll also give our opinions on whether the production team knows what a comic con is.
Marvel’s Inhumans made history by being the only MCU series to not be renewed for a second season. With controversial choice of showrunner, Scott Buck, helming the show, the series suffered from poor ratings and poor reception from the fanbase. In this episode we examine the Inhumans series and examine what went wrong. In addition we examine the context of the show and the usage of the characters within the fabric of the greater MCU as well as how the characters from adapted from their comics origin. We also talk about the things that we liked about the show. After that we talk about whether the MCU should scrub the show from the continuity or what we would do to salvage it in the ongoing Marvel narrative.
Join the episode as we discuss the fifth season of Marvel’s Agents of Hydra. Follow agents Ward, May, and Skye as they hunt down the Inhuman filth infesting the planet. We’ll also follow the exploits of ineffective resistance movement, run by the treacherous Jeffrey Mace and his allies. We go through all the ins and outs of the season, from the awesomeness of Madame Hydra to new character, Simmons, and her ties to the corrupt S.H.I.E.L.D. organization. We also talk about why we should care about a schoolteacher and a law-abiding citizen with his daughter. It’s all that and more with this triumphant installment of The 42cast!
