The Marvel Netflix series garnered a large amount of support in the brief time that they were available. With Charlie Cox returning as Daredevil it was only a matter of time before rumors spread of others of the Netflix “Defenders” being folded into the MCU. Jon Bernthal is at the center of many of those proving that there’s still an audience for his interpretation of The Punisher. In this episode we take a look at the second season of that series. We discuss the pacing and why it worked for some and didn’t for others. We talk about the new characters and how they effected Frank’s journey. We also get into the choices made to further season one’s story and whether we felt that worked. We finish up by asking whether we’d like to see future seasons of the series on Disney+.
Marvel has generated a lot of buzz lately with announcements regarding the upcoming phases of their universe. This week we discuss the announcements from the SDCC and D23 2022. We’ll talk about our favorite announcements. We discuss the things that surprise us. We’ll opine on the direction that the MCU seems to be going and how we feel about it.
Spider-Man may not have a way home but we do, as we get back to releasing our MCU episodes. Join us as we discuss Spider-Man: No Way Home. We discuss the various cameos and crossovers and how that impacted our interest in the movie and how we feel that it will impact the MCU going forward. We also talk about Peter’s development as a character and how his sacrifice will have ramifications moving forward. We also get into the wacky antics, the amazing action, the spectacular cameos and so much more.
It’s been thirty years since The Rocketeer graced the silver screen. A superhero story done in a 40’s pulp hero style, the Rocketeer may have been ahead of it’s time. It made only moderate profits in the theater, but has retained a cult following. In this episode we talk about what we think about the Rocketeer and how its aged. We discuss the rocket punk style, the acting, plot, and themes of the story. We also discuss why the movie may not have done as well as expected. We also discuss what we’re hoping for from the Disney+ reboot.
WandaVision was the first of Marvel’s Disney+ releases. It faced the seemingly impossible task of progressing the story of Wanda and Vision despite the fact that the latter was dead. What followed was to date the most experimental of the MCU’s offerings, and one that had a wide distribution of opinions from fandom. In this episode we’ll talk about the series, how it utilized sitcoms to tell a story about grief, returning faces, continuing threads from elsewhere in the universe, and where we think it’s all leading. We’ll also talk about fan expectations and whether or not we think people are justified for crying “foul”.
Everything old is new again! After some surprising appearances in some recent MCU releases, Daredevil is relevant again, so we thought it was a great idea to finally make public our review of season 3 of that series. We discuss everything from the aftermath of The Defenders to how we feel that this is probably the end to his stand alone series. We discuss our thoughts for a possible season 4 as well as our feelings for the characters and the trajectories they’ve taken to get to this point. We also talk about our new characters such as Bullseye, various takes on mental health, and Anji asks if the writers just have an unreasoning hatred of the FBI.
It’s time for us to make a jump to the left as Marvel has brought us a story featuring a different kind of character previously unknown in the MCU. In this episode we review Marvel’s Eternals. We talk about the concept and how it fits into the MCU. We also debate whether the movie works in what it was trying to do. We discuss the cast and our favorites. We also get into comic book origins, minor characters, *that* voice, and how several threads from this movie will spin into the Marvel Universe at large.
Marvel’s Netflix series were mostly released to great acclaim by fans and critics alike. Unfortunately, the one flop was Marvel’s Iron Fist. In this episode we discuss the second season of that series. We examine if the change in showrunners created a change for the better. We discuss the plot and how it fit into the interconnected storyline of the Marvel Netflix universe. We also discuss the characters, there development, and the new faces in season 2. We wrap it up by discussing what we’d like to see out of a hypothetical season 3.
